Why these parts
- CPU
- The Ryzen 5 7500F is the cheapest door into modern AM5. We pick it over the slightly cheaper 8400F on purpose: the 8400F halves the L3 cache to 16MB, and cache is the spec that moves gaming frames the most.
- CPU Cooler
- A Thermalright dual-tower keeps the chip silent and has the headroom for the AM5 upgrade path, all the way to a 9800X3D.
- Motherboard
- A B650 board on AM5 means CPU upgrades through at least the Ryzen 9000 series, so the socket outlives the graphics card.
- RAM
- 16GB DDR5 in two sticks. CL is left unconstrained on purpose: a CL30 kit costs about 19% more than CL48 for a few percent in games, which does not survive the 2026 DDR5 price surge.
